曝气生物滤池技术(简称BAF)是八十年代末和九十年代初兴起的水处理工艺,是在生物接触氧与生物活性炭的技术基础 上开发出的一种高效、低耗的生物反应器。该技术首先应用于污水深度(三级)处理并回用的场合,后发展成既可应用于 微污染水源水的预处理(如去除有机污染),又能直接用于城市污水二级处理领域的新技术。自80年代后在欧洲建成第 一座使用曝气生物滤池技术处理污水的二级处理厂后,已在欧美和日本等发达国家广为流行,我国在21世纪初,大连城 市污水厂引进了该项技术,目前世界上已有一百多座大大小小的污水处理厂应用了曝气生物滤池技术。
